Become An AFS Member

Show that you believe in the importance and future of the fisheries profession by being part of the oldest, largest, and most influential association of fisheries professionals in the world. AFS, formed in 1870, is the first and largest society of fisheries professionals. Its membership is comprised of over 9,000 individuals with interests in all facets of fishery research, production, management, professional development, and education.

There are lots of great benefits to joining AFS, including subscription to monthly Fisheries magazine; special member prices for AFS journals, books and Annual Meeting registration; networking opportunities with other fishery and aquatic resource professionals; access to the Society’s Jobs Bulletin on the Web; and as a student member, your membership allows you to apply for student travel awards and scholarships.

When joining AFS, do not forget to check the box and also join the Oregon Chapter for only $10 more. The Oregon Chapter of the American Fisheries Society is composed of over 400 fisheries and aquatic science professionals from federal, state, and tribal agencies, colleges and universities, and diverse private employers. Students and retired professionals of the fisheries and aquatic science fields are also important members.

Are you a long-time ORAFS member and interested in a Chapter Lifetime membership? Beginning in 2016, ORAFS established a Lifetime ORAFS membership for Lifetime AFS members who are interested in a one-time payment for ORAFS membership. The Lifetime ORAFS membership cost is $125 (12.5x annual dues, similar to AFS Lifetime membership multiplier). Please contact the ORAFS Treasurer (Treasurer@orafs.org) for more information.
